Meet The Team

Del Ballard, Jr.

Co-Owner | Hall-of-Fame Bowler | Premier Coach

Inspired by his parents' passion to bowl, Del Ballard, Jr. began training at the ripe age of 16. By 1982, he joined the Professional Bowlers league and amassed a career that has spanned over 25 years.

His Professional Bowling career highlights include:

  • 13 Professional Bowlers Tour Titles

    • 5 Major Championships

      • 2 time U. S. Open Champion

      • Firestone Tournament of Champions

      • ABC (USBC) Masters Champion

      • Brunswick World Open Champion

  • USBC Hall of Fame - 2010

  • PBA Hall of Fame - 2009

One thing Del realized during his success on tour, was that it took much more than throwing the ball well to be a champion.  Reading the lanes, knowing your equipment, and being mentally prepared are just a few items that all contribute to success.

A natural path for Del after his bowling career was coaching.  He is known as one of the go-to guys for ball suggestions and lane pattern strategy.  Through this, his second true passion came through – coaching.  Over the past 20 years he has coached some of the world’s best female and male professional bowlers as well as International teams.

His coaching career highlights include:

  • Ball rep and coach for the Storm/Roto Grip Staff of Champions

  • Storm/Roto Grip Tour Rep for the PBA/PBA50/PWBA National Tours

  • Coach for the University of North Texas Men’s Bowling Team

  • Ball motion specialist for the UAE (United Arab Emirates) National Team

  • Ball motion specialist for the Hong Kong Men’s and Women’s National Team

  • International Ambassador for USBC

She credits her success on and off the lanes to good coaching and great mentors that taught her how to be an all-around athlete and is grateful to have an amazing support system of family and friends.

Together, Carolyn and her husband, Del, run the Ballard's Bowling Academy to teach excellence and to pass down the knowledge they have gained over the years.
